The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Islamabad seeks to recruit a suitably qualified Administrative Assistant to be employed at its Visa Section for Afghanistan

Job description:

  • Handling and initial assessment of visa applications

  • Conducting interviews at the counter

  • Entering of applicants’ data into the electronic visa system

  • Dealing with client queries by phone, email or in person

  • Providing translation and interpretation

  • Administrative support

Minimum qualifications:

  • B.A. or professional experience in the administrative field

  • Excellent knowledge of English

  • Excellent knowledge of Dari and/or sufficient command of German. Applicants knowing more than one of those languages, or holding higher proficiency than the mandatory levels, will be preferred.

  • Working knowledge of standard IT programs (Word, Excel and similar)

The position:

The Embassy is offering a full-time position with a working time of 41 hours per week. The position is for one year with the possibility of extension. Regarding the contractual relationship, Pakistani law will be applicable. Salary is based on the Embassy’s current salary scheme. Benefits such as medical insurance are offered to employees and their families under certain conditions. Probation period is 6 months. Non-Pakistani nationals will have to provide a permit for employment under local law. Please note that successful applicants are obliged to undergo a medical examination and pass security clearance by the German authorities.
