Application procedure for student visa
The Consular Service Portal provides a full digital solution to the application process.
- Registrations for appointments will be registered at the Federal Foreign Office's Consular Services Portal.
- All required documents will appear after the interactive questionnaire
- Scan and submit/upload all your documents
- You will be informed about the next step, after the first screening process of your documents by a visa officer
- There are two possible results: 1) You will receive a notification for your appointment or 2) You need to submit further/corrected documents
Please be advised that incomplete applications result in delayed processing.
Attention:
The consular section is currently processing a high volume in student visa applications.
While the Consular Services Portal has led to an overall increase in finalized applications, we are aware that ongoing demand still exceeds our capacity.
Please be advised that we have been working and are working tirelessly on all submitted applications in the order they are received!
However, every student can actively assist the process by submitting either proof of acceptance of late arrival at your university or an enrollment letter for next semester. We kindly ask you to check your documents for accuracy and update if necessary.
We apologize for any inconvenience and kindly ask to refrain from further inquiries, because answering inquiries further reduces capacities available for processing visa applications.
How to apply
Islamabad
Applications for student visa are availabe through our Consular Service Portal.
Karachi - register on our waiting list to apply at the Consulate General
The Consulate General has changed the procedure for booking appointments for Schengen and long term visas.
(Except Opportunity Card/Chancenkarte for which appointments can still be booked directly through the appointment allocation system.)
Due to the constant high demand, it has been decided to set up a waiting list in order to efficiently adapt the appointment allocation to the capacities of our visa office.
You will no longer be able to book an appointment directly, but you will first register your name on a waiting list and in a second step appointments will be allocated at a later date by the consulate in chronological order of registrations based on available capacity. To ensure that appointments are allocated fairly and smoothly, all applicants (for the above mentioned categories) are asked to register on the waiting list.
For this purpose, additional information is required to better understand your travel purpose. Therefore, please complete the waiting list registration carefully with the requested information. Only when the required data is entered correctly and completely an appointment will be allocated.
You do not need to use an agent to register on the waiting list! Registration on the waiting list is free of charge!
Preparing your documents
You have a part in the application process: The better you prepare your applications, the more applications can be processed. Accordingly, even if it is not yet your turn:
- Prepare all of your documents and confirmations
- Prepare well readable copies in A4 format
- Sort them in the right order
Make these preparations even if it is not yet your turn. Your chances of an appointment slot are higher if the people before you present their applications in an orderly fashion. As you hope for others to do so - do so yourself.
Mandatory documents
Due to technical difficulties, some mandatory documents are currently marked as only optional on the system. In particular:
- Past degree certificates (school, bachelor or past master degrees)
- Degree transcripts
- Proof of payment of tuition fees (if applicable to the course of study)
are mandatory documents and must be submitted from the outset.
If you do not submit these documents, your online registration will remain halted. You will receive a reminder email to submit them, but your application will run faster if you submit them immediately.
